VACATION?

School is starting up again!  It’s hard to believe that the Summer break is all but gone.  Time goes so fast.  It seems to me that fewer young families took actual vacation trips this year.  I’m sure that the cost of travel and the general tight economy had its say in many cases.
We do need a break in our life’s routine from time to time.  It serves to keep us stimulated and refreshed.  However, to actually accomplish a good break successfully is, in my experience, a real art form.  We tend to bring a lot of baggage with us wherever we go.  Success depends not so much on where you’re at; it depends much more on who you’re with!  Spending time with certain people in our lives can truly be uplifting and rejuvenating.
One of the routine patterns in life is found in relationships.  We spend so much time around our neighbors, fellow workers, teachers, students, clients, (Pastor?; Parishioners?!), that we take them for granted and get bored.  When we get out on a good break, we come to appreciate more what we’ve got.  “It’s always good to get home!”  We yearn to return.  We’re ready to go!  — Now, that’s a good vacation!
