Ministry to Shut-ins … Provides transportation and assistance to parishioners in need of such help. Arranges for Ministers of Communion to bring the Word and Communion to parishioners unable to come to Mass.
Ministry to the Bereaved … Reaching out with God’s Love, providing social, emotional and spiritual comfort to those grieving the loss of a loved one.
BeFriender Ministry … is a lay pastoral care program. Specially trained lay persons enter into caring relationship with others at time of special needs by visiting with them –bringing emotional and spiritual support. Lay Coordinators are Gary and Jacque Everhart, phone 276-906, or call the Parish office, 275-7549.
Prison Ministry … Bringing to prisoners the message of God’s Love and Forgiveness, and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church handed down through tradition. Volunteers bring Christ into these institutions by conducting Word and Communion services, bible studies and other spiritual based programs. Also by arranging for a Priest to administer the Sacraments.
There is a great need for volunteers to serve the 12 prisons, the youth offenders institution and the county jail in this area.
Volunteers must be 21 years old, submit to a background check and attend an 8 hour training program.
Those who think they may be interested can be cleared as a guest to attend a service or program with a volunteer. This can be set up through Paul Fassler (719) 275-2865 or Rolland Kuhlmann (719) 276-0886. Volunteers find this to be a very rewarding ministry.
Share Colorado … provides lower cost food monthly at a minimal charge for all who document a minimum of two hours of community service (not limited to parish work).
Social Justice … Provides education of the concepts of social issues at all levels and ultimately taking action where action is warranted.
Local agency needs … Educates and challenges Parishioners to the needs of area non-profit efforts, i.e. Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity, Family Crisis, Pregnancy Center, etc.
