2012 DMF KICK-OFF WEEKEND
What is the DMF?
The Diocesan Ministry Fund is the main source of revenue for the Diocese of Pueblo. Pledges to the DMF are shared in various ways across our diocese, which covers 29 counties – over 50,000 square miles. The majority of the moneys are used to support and grow our diocese; some moneys are used to reach out to those in need inside and outside of our diocese; and other moneys are used to support the universal church.
Why should we pledge to the DMF?
The Diocesan Ministry Fund campaign helps us realize that God calls us to be sisters and brothers who belong to one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. We are people of many races, many backgrounds and many nationalities. Yet we are one. The DMF provides a bridge across our parish boundaries, across our cultural boundaries and even across our national boundaries. Each parish operating on its own can only do so much. However, when parishes join together, linking all of the people of our diocese, then we will see the generosity of God flowing through us into all of His people.
How much should we give?
We should all make a sincere effort to contribute an amount equal to one percent of our household income this year. This is a good time to reflect gratefully on how generous God has been to all of us and our families. Our giving should be an honest proportion of our resources which adequately reflects our gratitude for God’s generosity.
St. Michael’s DMF Parish Goal for 2012 is $76,202.00.

The Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults
The initiation of catechumens is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful. By joining the catechumens in reflection on the value of the paschal mystery and by renewing their own conversion, the faithful provide an example that will help the catechumens to obey the Holy Spirit more generously.
The rite of initiation is suited to a spiritual journey of adults that varies according to the many forms of God’s grace, the free cooperation of the individuals, the action of the Church, and the circumstances of time and place.
This journey included not only the periods for making inquiry and for maturing, but also the steps marking the catechumens’ progress, as they pass, so to speak, through another doorway or ascent to the next level.
The first period consists of inquiry on the part of the candidates and of evangelization and the precatechumenate on the part of the Church. It ends with the rite of acceptance into the order of catechumens.
The second period, which begins with the rite of acceptance into the order of catechumens includes catechesis and the rites connected with catechesis. It comes to an end on the day of election Sunday, February 26, 2012.
The third period, which follows the rite of election, ordinarily coincides with the Lenten preparation for the Easter celebration and the sacraments of initiation Saturday, April 7, 2012, Easter Vigil. It is a time of purification and enlightenment and includes the celebration of the rites belonging to this period.
The final period extends through the whole Easter season and is devoted to the post-baptismal catechesis or mystagogy. It is a time for deepening the Christian experience, for spiritual growth, and for entering more fully into the life and unity of the community.

ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY CHOIR CONCERT
St. Michael Catholic Church is pleased to welcome once again, the Saint John’s University Chorus from Collegeville, MN. They will be here to sing in concert for our community of Tuesday, March 6th at 7:30 p.m. The Saint John’s University has approximately 45 voices, 25 female and 20 male. They travel the world doing concerts of sacred and secular music. The choir asks each parish to provide a potluck before each concert in order to meet and visit with parishioners. Therefore, we will begin our potluck at 5:00 p.m., in the gymnasium prior to the concert at 7:30 p.m. Potluck dishes will be needed and should be provided based on the alphabet system we have used in the past.
A-J ~ Meat, Main Dish
K-S ~ Salad, Side Dish
T-Z ~ Dessert
The singers will also need guest homes to stay for the night. Guest homes will be asked to house 1-4 singers, provide breakfast the next morning and a ride back to the church for their departure at 7:30 a.m. We will need to secure housing for this choir as soon as possible. Please call Laurie Mendon at 276-1285, if you can open your home for choir members to stay on the night of March 6th. Thank you.
