St. Michael Parish
Centering Prayer Group

Centering Prayer is a Christian meditative practice that prepares you to receive the Spirit by consenting to God’s presence and action within yourself. This listening prayer is meant to enrich and compliment personal and communal prayer and heighten one’s awareness of God in daily living.  The St. Michael Centering Prayer Group strives to introduce the practice of Centering Prayer to new participants and support continuing members in their spiritual journey.

This interfaith group currently has 12-15 regular members that meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:45 pm.  On the second Monday of the month, prayer and discussion is in the meeting room of St. Michael’s education center.  On the fourth Monday of the month, prayer and discussion is in the west side chapel of Christ Episcopal Church.   Our time together includes a 20-minute period of Centering Prayer, time for fellowship, followed by a spiritual book study or DVD presentation and discussion. For those unfamiliar with Centering Prayer, a short introduction will be provided at the start of the session.
