CHRISTIAN FORMATION COMMISSION
Mission Statement

We envision a community of faith in which we are growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, participating in learning, sharing and living our faith, on generation helping the other through shared life events of our Church and families, throughout our entire lifetime.

The following teams and groups assist the Christian Formation Commission in fulfilling its mission:
GIFT CORE Team: promotes and communicates the vision of lifelong faith formation to the parish community. The team facilitates innovation in faith formation, fashioning the lifelong learning curriculum. It oversees the workings of the Design and Implementation Teams.
GIFT Design Team: has the primary responsibility for designing the events-centered learning plan encompassing an intergenerational program and home faith formation resources in alignment with the yearly theme.
GIFT Implementation Team: is responsible for conducting the Whole Parish Event learning programs. This Team includes people who will be directly involved in the organization and facilitation of the learning events in supportive roles.
Youth Mission Trip: provides youth in the parish opportunities to model their commitment to Christian values by volunteering to serve the needs of people in culturally diverse environments over an extended time. Adults provide training and oversee all activities.
R.C.I.A.: The Right of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process of time and instruction meant to inform and welcome new members into the Roman Catholic Church. Special rites are celebrated during Sunday liturgies at various times throughout the year.
Sacramental Preparation: Catechesis in preparation for a sacrament is required through the Code of Canon Law to help form Christians of all ages to respond generously to God’s call. It focuses on developing a relationship with Christ and fosters a conscious understanding of the meaning of signs/symbols and sacramental rituals leading to active participation in the liturgical and apostolic life of the Church.
Scripture Study: This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding and participation in the sacred stories and words of our heritage, so that when they are proclaimed on Sunday (Saturday) you them with fresh ears, as if the Lord was speaking to you today.
Adult Formation: Opportunities are given through Whole Parish Events of GIFT as well as retreats and Scripture Study.
