.St. Michael Parish Pastoral Council
Meeting Minutes June 24, 2008

Meeting called to order by Chairwoman Sharon Bernard at 6:05 pm

As always the Council meeting began with Prayer

Minutes of the last meeting were discussed and approved as read.

Old Business:  - New members were officially introduced - Joe Carpine, Len Grantner, Ralph Herrman and Mary Manchester.  They were given instruction to agendas, meeting times, meeting place etc.  A short discussion followed regarding our handbook and Roberts Rules of Order.  (Concensus approach is being followed by all Parish Councils in this Diocese).

- Celebrate and Become evaluation report was discussed by Chair Sharon Bernard  and each council person was given a copy of the report for their perusal.  It was suggested by Len Grantner that perhaps permanent banners be made by each of the committees.

- The Parish Picnic was discussed.  Menu choices included BBQ ribs and BBQ beef and what was done in the past.  After cost was considered Gary Gunther suggested we continue with our past menu.  Last year $742.00 was spent and this year’s budget is $1000.00.  It was mentioned that our Youth group will help with the event and the Knights of Columbus will provide the drinks.  A committee of Ralph Herrman, Honey Moschetti and Richard Marks was formed to pursue activities and will report at our next council meeting.

- Richard Marks spoke to and organized a Council Pot-Luck at his home in July.  (As a post script the event was well received and attended, the food was fabulous, and the company was unparalleled.)  It was agreed that this would replace our regular July meeting.

Committee Reports:  - were given by their respective liaison representatives.

New Business:  - Council discussed our upcoming workshop.  Times and dates will be determined.  The purpose would be to clarify the role of council, review our Mission Statement and identify each committee’s responsibility to the Parish.  The possibility of a guest speaker and presenter was discussed, along with other logistical concerns.

- The lists of committee liaisons, roster, prayer and refreshments sign-up, were all updated.

Pastors Report:  - Father Jim King gave his pastoral report which included Mass attendance at the various times over the past 11 years.

- Father Jim led a brief discussion in regard to a Prayer Garden statue in memory of Mary Gindro and her extraordinary gift to the parish.

Council meeting ended with Prayer

*In the absence of our regular secretary Evelyn Andrews a review of this meeting is respectfully submitted by Mike Gunkel (appointed vice-chair).
